Music Review: Mohenjo Daro by A.R.Rahman. Starring Hrithik Roshan & Pooja Hegde, Directed by Ashotoush Gowarikar

We all were waiting for this. Not just because of it’s a Rahmaniac music but it’s period drama movie. So you can expect grand and exiting music. Let me give you brief of this soundtrack. It’s more like storytelling music rather then male-female love songs. Yes it has that but not only that. You can feel something new in this soundtrack with each track. Yes must say here Rahman has used technology amazingly to make it sound periodic or folk yet new. So here We go,

1. Mohenjo Mohenjo: 

      Singers: Arijit Singh, Bela Shende, Sanah Moidutty 

Soundtrack starts with, you can say introducing song to Mohenjo Daro. This energetic chorus song with Arijit singh and Bela Shende as confident Lead Voices. With quit good and regular lyrics by Javed Akhtar this song is illustrating a narrative chorus song. A Grand Chorus song.

2. Sindhu Maa: 

          Singers: A.R.Rahman, Sanah Moidutty

Song starting with amazing voice of Rahman that we heard in teaser. He made it in totally different. It’s thanks giving songs to Mother Sindhu River by Female. Rahman enters with offbeat amazing and wonderful Tribal tune on folky beat with his voice. Then track enters intro Tu Hai song which we gonna discuss next. Must hear for Amazing Rahman vocals at start. I’m repeating it again and again. :-)

3. Sarsariya:

          Singer: Shashwat Singh, Shashaa Tirupathi

Songs starting with typical Tribal intro with voicing acts and bamboo rhythm where amazingly used electronic type Flute sounds periodic. Fantastic folk dance Rhythm when we understand what singers want to say. Good song.

4. Tu Hai:

          Singers: A.R.Rahman, Sanah Moidutty

This is the song which gonna we hear everywhere whether on Radio, Music Channels, i-pads, Youtube Covers etc. A catchy tune by Rahman. Yes a beautiful Romantic track. Both Rahman and a new singer Sanah cracked it . Listen it now or you gonna hear it in anyway elsewhere.  

5. Whispers of the Mind: 

          Artist: Ajay Chandy

This is the track where Rahman shows his creativity. If you want to say this is a instrumental track then you must agree that instrument is Vocal/Voice. A soothing track in the voice of Arjun Chandy with supporting vocal Harmony. Its like a song sung by Buddhist saint. As name suggest it illustrate talks of Mind. 

6. Whispers of Heart:

       Artist: Ajay Chandy

Same as above track which has same Buddhist Music vibe with Chorus supporting him. Here typical rhythm of this feel comes and yes amazing instrument Hang by Shivamani which made this track interesting. Must Hear both of this track. Go for it. 

7. The Shimmer of Sindhu:

       Artists: Keba Jeremia, Kareem Kamalakar

This is a Instrumental track where Rahman’s favourite Keba playing Tu Hai on his guitar. And then comes beautiful Flute. A peaceful track gives you soothing feel of riverbank. Sit-back and enjoy it.

8. Lakh Lakh Thora:

       Artist: Tapas Roy, Naveen Kumar

Intrumental Track of Sarsariya. Strokes played by Tapas Roy. Songs starts in a way that you feel Arabic Sound because of Saz. Flute by Naveen Kumar at the end to give decent end. 

So over-n-all it’s a really Good soundtrack but if you are expecting something like Lagaan and Jodha-Akbar which are past collaboration between Ashotosh Gowarikar and A.R.Rahman. You will not get that. Its a different creative soundtrack by Rahman. Nothing like wow with Javed Akhtar for lyrics but are Good, doing enough Justice.
